The right connectivity technology depends on range, battery life, data volume and operating cost.
- LoRaWAN: Kilometres of range and long battery life. Ideal for large numbers of sensors that send little data.
- NB-IoT: Uses the operator’s infrastructure and penetrates well inside buildings.
- 4G / LTE: Preferred for images, high-frequency data and vehicle tracking.
- Wi-Fi / Ethernet: The most economical solution indoors where a network already exists.
In most projects the right answer is a mix of these.
