Structural Health and Slope Monitoring System

See small movements in a structure before they grow

Continuously measures tilt, crack width, vibration and displacement in buildings, retaining walls, bridges, slopes and excavations. Instantly notifies engineers and authorities when defined limits are exceeded.

General system features

Escalating thresholds

Watch, warning and alarm limits set by the engineer; each level is notified to different people.

Time-based charts

The speed and direction of movement are tracked in charts; slowly progressing deformation is noticed.

Rainfall correlation

Evaluation together with rainfall and groundwater data; periods of increased landslide risk become visible.

Vibration limits

Measures the effect on neighbouring structures of vibration caused by piling, blasting and heavy traffic.

Wireless and battery-powered

Installation without running cables; sensors run on batteries for a long time.

Technical reports

Periodic measurement reports are exported for engineering assessment and official correspondence.

Installation process

Go live in 4 steps

1

Engineering plan

Monitoring points and limit values are determined with the project engineer.

2

Installation

Sensors are fixed to the structure and ground and initial readings are taken.

3

Calibration

Baseline values are zeroed and thresholds entered.

4

Monitoring

Data is monitored 24/7 and periodic reports are prepared.

Frequently asked questions

Who sets the limit values?

Watch, warning and alarm limits are set by the engineer responsible for the structure and project. We install the measurement system and provide the data and notifications.

How small a movement can it measure?

Tilt sensors can detect changes in the order of thousandths of a degree and crack meters can detect openings of less than a millimetre. Accuracy depends on the selected sensor.

Does installation damage the structure?

Sensors are fixed with small anchors or adhesive; mounting methods that leave no trace are preferred on historic buildings.

How long is monitoring carried out?

Monitoring can be continuous throughout excavation and construction, or for years on slopes and historic buildings. We offer rental or purchase options.
